Activists welcome programme "Accessible Environment" in Volgograd Region

The number of facilities in the Volgograd Region, now accessible for disabled persons, has increased; but the region still sees law violations at adapting such persons, says the report of the Volgograd association of blind specialists name "Nadezhda" (Hope).

Evgeny Rybnikov, the manager of the association, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the report was made on the results of examining 40 socially valuable facilities, adapted for people with disabilities in Volgograd, Volzhsky, Uryupinsk, Kotelnikovo, Pallasovka, Elan and other cities of the region in 2014-2015.

The report notes that the number of accessible facilities went up against 2014.

"Facilities have labels in Braille, ramps and handrails; however, some facilities saw no changes during these two years. However, the inspectors have concluded that as a whole the facilities adapted in 2014-2015 are more compliant with the requirements of accessibility than those adapted in 2011-2013," said Rybnikov.
