Police seize samples of printed materials from publishing house "Qanun"

In Baku, the police conducted one more search at the publishing house "Qanun" and seized part of the printed materials and the printing equipment. The owner of the publishing house treats the police action as unlawful.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 11, the publishing house "Qanun" was visited by about 20 policemen. According to Shakhbaz Khuduoglu, the owner of the publishing house, the policemen announced they had got the information about a bomb planted in the building and began to conduct a search.

According to Shakhbaz Khuduoglu, today, like yesterday, no combat engineers were engaged, and no documents of seizure were provided.

When asked if the seized printed materials had a content of political nature, Shakhbaz Khuduoglu answered in the negative. He has noted that the law enforcers did not search the premises rented by two NGOs at the building of the publishing house "Qanun".

Shakhbaz Khuduoglu has noted that no restrictions are imposed on the activities of the publishing house and that it will continue its operation.

Advocate Yalcin Imanov has called the police actions unlawful, since the policemen were to submit the reasoned decision to conduct a search or a court order.

Let us remind you that on November 1, 2013, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes carried out the inspection of the activities of the publishing house "Qanun". Officials of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes searched the publishing house and seized all financial documents.
