Employee of Meydan TV states pressure on his relatives in Azerbaijan
Khabib Munteziri, living in Germany and working for the online television Meydan TV, has accused law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan of putting pressure on his relatives. According to Munteziri, his relatives are detained and demanded to persuade him not to criticize the Azeri authorities.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khabib Munteziri (Gabib Muntazir) was one of the founders of the group in the Facebook, which had spread calls for protest actions in Azerbaijan.
On June 9, Azerbaijani law enforcers detained Munteziri's cousins, Khabib has told today in his interview to the "Turan" Agency.
"They took away my cousins and kept them for several hours at some unknown place, putting pressure on them and demanding from them to force me to stop criticizing the head of Azerbaijan," said Munteziri.
According to his story, today law enforcers have detained two other men, to whom he is a nephew. Besides, law enforcers wrote down addresses and other data of all his other relatives.
Munteziri sees the reason of the pressure in his action committed on June 7 in Berlin, where the German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev. Having waited for Aliev's exit from the office of the Chancellor, Munteziri began shouting out calls for the release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan. A video of the action was posted on the YouTube.
