In Stavropol Territory, local activist detained after searches, head of "Stavropol People's Assembly of Russia" reports
On June 8, in the Stavropol Territory, law enforcers conducted searches in houses and office of Dmitri Chernov and Roman Voryshev, members of the supporters of the Slavic neo-pagan organization "Stavropol People's Assembly of Russia". From the house of Roman Voryshev, the law enforcers seized books and detained the owner himself, and from the office, they seized office equipment and documentation, Dmitri Chernov reports.
According to him, the search at the Roman Voryshev's house was explained by a criminal case on misuse of the budget funds, which involved the former head of one of the districts of the Stavropol Territory.
"They seized books from the Roman's house to examine them for extremism. While conducting the search, the law enforcers behaved very rudely," Dmitri Chernov said.
According to him, earlier, Roman Voryshev used to lead the Centre for Development of Russian Ethnic Culture "Rarog". "Roman was engaged in the fight against corruption, and he organized public hearings on the issue," Dmitri Chernov has noted.
"For my personal search, they produced another reason. According to the information that my mother managed to read in the search warrant, the search was caused by the suspicion of financing the extremist organization of the World Congress of Ukrainians," Dmitri Chernov said.
