Residents of Chechnya approve introduction of Iftar in republic's mosques
During the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, mosques of 14 cities and major dwelling settlements of Chechnya have provided free feeding for believers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 6 Muslims of most regions of Southern Russia began their Ramadan fasting. Major mosques have organized the evening fast-breaking for the Muslims, who keep the Ramadan fasting during daytime.
"The believers, who observe the fasting during Ramadan, may break their fast in the evening free of charge in 14 mosques in the territory of our republic. The required funds were allocated by the Regional Public Fund named after Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov. Every evening, at our mosques, the Iftar (fast-breaking) is performed by thousands of believers," said the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya.
Residents of the republic have a positive view on the organization of Iftar by local mosques.
"It's nice that the authorities pay attention to believers' problems. In Soviet times, it was prohibited even to observe the fasting month of Ramadan, not to mention everything else that comes to religion," a resident of Grozny named Isa told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
