Residents of Dagomys demand from officials to allocate funds to repair water drains

According to residents of the Sochi village of Dagomys, who have been affected by a new flooding, the officials continue to ignore their demands to clean and arrange water drains. The local residents believe that the authorities fail to understand that it is much more beneficial for them to allocate funds to repair and clean water drains than to regular pay compensation and to eliminate the consequences of cases of flooding.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4, in Sochi, as a result of the recent rains, some streets were flooded, including streets in the villages of Dagomys and Vardan.

Tenants of the houses, located in Batumskoe Shosse Street in the village of Dagomys, have repeatedly appealed to the officials with the demand to clean the water drains from garbage. This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ekaterina Shurmanova, a representative of the initiative group of the tenants.

According to her, in November 2015, the tenants appealed to the City Mayor and the Governor with a request to pay attention to the problem in Dagomys.

"During the flooding which occurred on June 25, 2015, for half an hour, the water in our houses rose to the level of two meters," states the appeal, a copy of which is available to the "Caucasian Knot".

According to Ekaterina Shurmanova, as of June 5, the tenants have not received any answer to their appeal.

The activist believes that because of the negligence of the officials, who fail to solve the problem with cleaning of water drains, on June 4, 2016, the local residents have once again faced the problem of flooding of their houses.
