HRC members state violations of custody conditions in Ingush SIZOs
Residents of Ingushetia complain about low wages and violations at the implementation of housing programmes; and the republic's SIZOs (pre-trial prisons) have serious problems with custody conditions. This was stated by the members of the delegation of the Presidential Human Rights Council (HRC) at the end of their travel to Ingushetia.
On June 2 and 3, the HRC delegation visited social institutions, detention centres and SIZOs of Ingushetia. In particular, they visited the SIZO of Karabulak, where they fixed a number of violations, Andrei Babushkin, a HRC member, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to the rights defender, the most pressing problem in SIZOs is related to the unavailability of clean drinking water.
In Magas, members of the HRC visited several children's institutions, said a rights defender Evgeny Bobrov. Leonid Nikitinsky, another member of the delegation, said that no serious violations were identified there.
Also in Nazran, on June 2, the delegation inspected the TB Centre and the AIDS Centre, said Natalia Evdokimova, a member of the HRC, adding that on June 2 rights defenders has a meeting with citizens, who complained, in particular, about the illegal, in their opinion, demolition of houses.
The delegation has also fixed violations in the provision of housing to the children, left without parental care, said Bobrov.
Yunus-Bek Evkurov has offered rights defenders to create a working group, under the HRC, to overcome the consequences of the 1992 Ossetian-Ingush conflict.
