Sochi: resolution on "Olympic" houses approved without activists' opinion

The situation with the Olympic heritage in Sochi should be examined by the law enforcement bodies. This was stated by three members of the commission set up under the administration of the region, who refused to sign the resolution on the houses in the Olympic villages.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since 2011, residents of Sochi reported on the derelict state and misuse of the houses in the village of Vesyoloe Psou. In April 2016, activists of public organizations carried out an inspection and claimed that no measures had been taken so far.

On May 30, the Department of Property Relations of the Sochi city administration signed a resolution on the houses in the Olympic village. This was reported by Igor Vasiliev, a member of the commission, the leader of the local branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF).

The text of the resolution refers to the unsatisfactory condition of the "Olympic" houses built in 2010 and transferred to the Sochi balance in 2015. Furthermore, the resolution also includes a recommendation to the Sochi City Mayor's Office "to take measures to increase the transparency of the data on the municipal property fund".

According to Igor Vasiliev, the activists also demanded to include in the resolution the information on the fact that "the Mayor failed to implement in the city his promise to allocate after the Olympics 12,000 apartments to people in waiting list for housing."
