Managers of "Electrozink" promise to stop lead production in September

Starting from June 15, the "Electrozink" Factory will launch works on stopping harmful production. And in this September, the production of lead in Vladikavkaz will be completely stopped. This was reported by the plant's managers to officials of North Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the North-Ossetian authorities have agreed with the owners of the "Electrozink" Factory on the closure of environmentally harmful production. The plant's managers have announced the closure of lead production starting from June 15.

As a part of the closure of lead production, 269 people will be made redundant. This was reported at the meeting with the North-Ossetian authorities by Igor Khodyko, General Director of Joint-Stock Company (JSC) "Electrozink". He has noted that the most people made redundant will be employed at the very plant.

The plant's managers plan to complete the second wave of downsizing the plant by August 1.

North Ossetia is developing a programme for improvement of ecological situation in Vladikavkaz in the area of the "Electrozink" Factory, reports Teimuraz Touskaev, Acting Chairman of the Government of North Ossetia.

Igor Khodyko has also noted that they also plan to modernize sulphuric acid production.

In the capital of North Ossetia, people regularly held protests against the activities of JSC "Electrozink".
