Five Georgian residents surrender weapons to police

A group of five residents of the South-Georgian Region of Samtskhe-Javakheti have delivered to the police over three kilograms of explosives and four thousand rounds of ammunition, as well as eight firearms and 75 grenades. All the five men were released from liability for their co-operation with law enforcers.

The information on the delivery of the above weapons was spread today by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), which has added that the above five residents of Samtskhe-Javakheti had done it voluntarily.

The arsenal included 3.7 kilos of TNT (trotyl), eight explosive shells, six shotguns, hand-made pistol and submachine gun, 75 grenades and 17 smoke bombs. Besides, they also surrendered a large amount of ammunition: 4113 rounds, five magazines, eight anti-personnel shells, and seven anti-tank mines.

According to the MIA, for the voluntary surrender of weapons, the five local residents are exempted from liability.
