HRC "Memorial": relatives of Djakhbarov brothers report their disappearance

Kamaludin Djakhbarov, a resident of Dagestan, disappeared on May 25; while the whereabouts of his brother Shamil Djakhbarov is unknown for more than a month, brothers' relatives told rights defenders. They fear that the brothers could be kidnapped by power agents.

According to relatives, Kamaludin Djakhbarov, a resident of the village of Novy Agachaul, Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, disappeared on May 25 "under mysterious circumstances." This is stated in relatives' application sent to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

"Relatives fear that he could be kidnapped by law enforcers, who may torture him," says the release of the HRC "Memorial", received today by the "Caucasian Knot".

"According to his relatives, Kamaludin was not a Salafi; he visited an ordinary mosque and had no problems with the law. They also note that more than a month ago, his brother Shamil Djakhbarov disappeared under similar circumstances; and policemen now suspect him of assaulting a road and patrol service (DPS) post on April 14 this year," says the above press release.
