In Turkey, Circassians announce start for creation of alternative to ICA

The Confederation of Circassian organizations (CherkesFED), an alternative of the International Circassian Association (ICA), will unite all the Caucasian Diasporas and communities in their historical homeland under the principles, which meet the interests of the Circassian movement. This was announced by organizers of the rally in front of the building of the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 21, in Istanbul, Circassian activists organized a march of many thousands along Istiklal Street and a rally in front of the Russian Consulate General. The action was dedicated to the anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War, and it was also to express a protest against the prosecution of Adnan Khuade.

In his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Erol Karea, Co-founder of the CherkesFED, an Abkhaz by origin, has criticized such Circassian organizations as ICA and KAFFED. He has described them as "pro-Russian and not representing Circassians and Caucasians as free people."

"We have an opportunity to create an alternative organization, and we are working on it. In 2017, we will announce the new structure. We have already created the CherkesFED, and under it, we will gradually collect all the Caucasian organizations in Turkey," Erol Karea has concluded.
