Memory Action of 152nd anniversary of Caucasian War held in Istanbul

A many-thousand march of Circassian activists in Istanbul is marching along Istiklal Street to the Russian General Consulate, where they plan to hold a rally in memory of the 152nd anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War.

The action was organized by the Confederation of Circassian Organizations named KAFFED and the Caucasian Diaspora in Turkey; then, representatives of the Crimean Tatars joined the action, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

People are holding national flags of Caucasian republics and chanting slogans, which accuse Russia of the Circassian Genocide; they urge the world community "to draw attention to crimes against humanity and the pressure on Circassians in Russia." The column has stretched for several kilometres.

The mourning events dedicated to the Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Caucasian War are held annually on May 21 in Russia – in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and other regions.
