At village gathering, local residents accuse Ramazan Djalaldinov of inciting ethnic hatred

On May 20, a new rural gathering held in the village of Kenkhi, local residents have again publicly condemned Ramazan Djalaldinov, who complained to Vladimir Putin about corruption. An appeal was sent to the Russian President on behalf of the villagers. The appeal referred to attempts to foment ethnic hatred in the village of Kenkhi. According to Mikhail Roschin, a researcher of the Caucasus, the situation around the village contains clear signs of harassment on ethnicity.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a large-scale campaign was organized against Ramazan Djalaldinov, as a result of which he and his family members were forced to leave for Dagestan.

The rural gathering held in the village of Kenkhi on May 20 was filmed by journalists of the "Grozny" TV Channel.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, Ramazan Djalaldinov himself set fire to his house, trying to use that way to "open a door to Europe." On May 15, Ramzan Kadyrov dismissed the head of the Sharoi District, and on 16 May, local residents reported that the village of Kenkhi was cordoned off by law enforcers.

The situation with Ramazan Djalaldinov reveals clear signs of problem based on ethnicity. This opinion was voiced by Mikhail Roschin, Senior Research Officer of the Centre for Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Volga-Ural Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

According to Mikhail Roschin, the above is evidenced by the methods used against Ramazan Djalaldinov.

According to Magomed Abdulkhabirov, a teacher from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (known as RUDN University), a traumatologist-orthopaedist of the highest category, neither Chamalals nor Chechens are happy with the fact that the village of Kenkhi is officially listed as a Chechen village.

The wide campaign to discredit Ramazan Djalaldinov has not become a surprise, states a leader of a local NGO.
