Participants of conference in Nalchik tell about problems in interethnic relations

To preserve the interethnic peace, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) should intensify efforts to educate young people in the history and culture of other nations, and pay due attention to solving the social and economic problems. This was stated at the conference, held on May 19, in Nalchik, in the office of the International Circassian Association (ICA).

The participants came to the conclusion that the KBR has no conditions for any interethnic conflicts; however, it has some problems that need addressing, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

As stated by Khauti Sokhrokov, the President of the ICA, in order to strengthen ties among Circassians from different countries and preserve the interethnic accord in the republic, all the efforts should be united. According to his story, Adygs (Circassians) live in 50 countries of the world; and in 23 of them, the ICA has its representative offices.

The Circassian issue is rather tense; and attempts are made to use it for pushing people to ethnic separatism by opposing Circassians' interests to those of other nations of Russia, believes Zalim Kashirokov, the Minister of the KBR for Prevention of Extremism and Implementation of Youth Policy.
