Residents of houses demolished in Yerevan express their distrust of Armenian government
In Armenia, residents of the Kond District, who lost their houses nine years ago, held an action in front of the building of the Armenian government. The residents wanted to attract attention to their unresolved problem.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March, residents of the houses demolished in the Kond District of Yerevan held three actions of protest. On March 24, they were promised that the government would consider the situation.
At the today's action of protest, the former residents of the Kond District again failed to meet Prime Minister Ovik Abramyan. However, other officials talked to him.
Hayk Davtyan, Assistant to Prime Minister, has agreed with the protesters, who claimed that the amount of compensation for the houses demolished in the centre of Yerevan, specified in the agreement, is not enough to buy an apartment even on the outskirts of the Armenian capital.
Alexander Gazaryan, the chief of the Department for reception of citizens and consideration of their appeals, has promised that a new project for construction of a residential building in the Kond District will be approved in the coming months. However, the protesters have expressed their distrust of the government.
