Disqualification of Chechen athlete to be considered on May 18
A man with a firearm, who appears on the video record of the mass fight involving a Chechen athlete, can become involved in the criminal case in case if it is found out that he did not have a permit for the pistol. This was stated by lawyers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
On May 13-15, the city of Stary Oskol of the Belgorod Region hosted the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship. On the last day of the competitions, an athlete from Chechnya attacked his opponent after the defeat. That provoked a mass fight. The video recorded of the incident shows a man who pulled out a pistol during the fight.
The decision on the punishment for the athlete will be made on May 18. This was reported by Artyom Gnatenko, the official spokesman of the Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF).
The "Life.ru" reports that the athlete, who faces a disqualification, is Rukman Akhmetkhanov, a son of Aslanbek Akhmetkhanov, President of the "South-Oil" oil company, whose bodyguard pulled out a pistol during the fight.
The man who pulled out his pistol faces four years of imprisonment and a fine in case if he possessed the pistol without an appropriate permit, states Evgeny Chernousov, an advocate of the Moscow Bar Association "Malaya Dmitrovka".
In his turn, Igor Trunov, Chairman of the Presidium of the Moscow Bar Association "Trunov, Aivar, and Partners" has explained that in accordance with the law, a security company employee may use special means, including firearms, in case if his employer is at risk.
