FSB rejects Rashid Evloev's petition to hold confrontations and examinations

The Investigating Department of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) has rejected the motion lodged by Rashid Evloev, a native of the village of Maiskoye, accused of links with Syrian militants, who asked to conduct a number of investigatory actions, and sent his case to the prosecutor's office.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 1, 2015, Evloev was extradited from Germany to Russia, where he was charged with taking training in terrorist activities in Syria. The advocates and relatives of Evloev declared his innocence. The investigators' refusal to add a number of documents confirming Evloev's alibi to the case files, was appealed against on April 2.

The defence insisted on holding confrontations with the witnesses of the prosecution, about the adding of Evloev's alibi to the case files, about the requesting of the detailed billing of the Evloev's mobile phone from the Turkish operator "Turkcell". Also, the defence demanded to examine the video files in Evloev's phone for extremism, due to the fact that investigators motivate by the presence thereof the commitment of Evloev to the radical ideology.

The FSB explains the refusal to add the Evloev's alibi to the case files by "the impossibility to check the origin of these documents."

The FSB's rejection of the defence's complaint demonstrates the biased attitude, the advocate Rosa Magomedova believes, adding that "the rejection of the alibi violates the Evloev's right to the defence."
