Sochi Association for Visually Impaired requests authorities to return their room

In Sochi, visually impaired persons held a meeting. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that they asked the city authorities to allocate a room for them, but it was obtained by a local MP. The Sochi Association for Visually Impaired needs new room in connection with the increase in the number of its members. The MP, who opened his reception next door to the Sochi Association for Visually Impaired, promises to allocate in his room a place for members of two NGOs.

At the meeting held on May 15, more than 100 visually impaired persons from the Sochi branch of the "All-Russian Association for Visually Impaired" have condemned the actions in the residential district "Gagarinsky" of Denis Kotikov, an MP from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia).

Denis Kotikov, who is also the deputy general director of Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Sochivodokanal", has occupied the room to arrange his reception. According to Gayane Tavakalyan, the head of the Sochi Association for Visually Impaired, for a long time, her NGO claimed for the room because of its constrained situation.

The disabled people have prepared an appeal addressed to the Sochi City Mayor, in which they ask to allocate the room to them or to find another room able to accommodate members of the NGO, the number of which exceeds 400 people.

According to Gayane Tavakalyan, the disabled people are forced to visit a lot of offices. She has also noted that in other cities of the Krasnodar Territory, the authorities help the Association for Visually Impaired. Gayane Tavakalyan has mentioned as an example the city of Tuapse, where the local Mayor's Office has allocated to visually impaired people a room of 100 square meters.
