Village of Kenkhi cordoned off by law enforcers, local residents report

The Chechen village of Kenkhi in the Sharoi District, the home of Ramazan Djalaldinov, who complained to the Russian President, is being cordoned off by law enforcers since May 14, local residents report. According to them, the law enforcers demand from the villagers to reveal the whereabouts of Ramazan Djalaldinov.

At night of May 12, the house of the Ramazan Djalaldinov's family was burnt down. On May 13, the eldest daughter of Ramazan Djalaldinov said that their house was burnt down by law enforcers, and his wife said the law enforcers threatened her with violence and forced her to defame her husband.

According to one of the Kenkhi villagers, the entry to the village has been restricted for several days already.

The village is not cordoned off, and there are no restrictions on entry to the village, reports in turn the press service of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to an official from the Chechen MIA, "the Sharoi District locates near border, and checkpoints are usually arranged there."

Meanwhile, on May 14, a delegation from Dagestan arrived in the village of Kenkhi. According to the villagers, the police did not allow the delegation from Dagestan to have a look at the burnt-down house of Ramazan Djalaldinov.

Ramazan Djalaldinov has imitated the arson of his house. This was reported by Chechen acting leader Ramzan Kadyrov. According to the Chechen Prosecutor's Office, the basic versions of the fire are arson and a failure of the electric wiring.
