Volgograd residents report destruction of asphalt in parade preparation

While rehearsing the Victory Day parade, military machines have damaged the pavement in Zhukov Avenue, residents of Volgograd have stated. It could be destructed prior to the machinery march, said the head of the press service of the Southern Military District, adding that an examination is needed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Volgograd residents had complained that at rehearsing the previous parade – on May 5, 2015, – military vehicles damaged the newly-repaired pavement in Mira Street. On May 8, 2015, Alexei Ulyanov, the head of the "Public Independent Inspection", complained to law enforcers about the damage of the asphalt pavement by militaries.

In preparation for this year’s May 9 parade in Volgograd, heavy machines from the military unit, while driving without protective pads, damaged the asphalt and marking signs in streets, Mr Ulyanov said. He wrote an application to the military prosecutor of the Volgograd garrison.

Let us remind you that within the preparation programme for the Football World Cup-2018, four games of which will be held in Volgograd, they are repairing and decorating central streets of the city and main highways. However, Volgograd motorists complain about the poor quality of repairing the so-called "guest routes" for the World Cup-2018.

Administration of Volgograd is negotiating with the militaries, not to have this situation repeat again, said a source from the city Mayoralty.

These negotiations are conducted for the second year, "but the things are still there," said Alexei Volotskov, the Vice-Mayor.
