In Dagestan, businessman associates pressure from law enforcers with construction of schools

Fridun Shakhpazov, who is building two schools in Dagestan at his own expense, intends to leave his business in the republic because of the constant inspections of the supervising bodies. According to Bashir Magomedov, the former business ombudsman, it is not possible to solve the problem at the local level, since the inspections are carried out by officials of the federal law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the All-Russia People's Front Forum, held on April 4-7, journalist Alik Abdulgamidov, a member of the Dagestani headquarters of the All-Russia People's Front, reported on the state of rural schools in Dagestan and pressure on Fridun Shakhpazov.

This year, according to Fridun Shakhpazov, Director of the Dagestani Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "SMU-5", he plans to complete the construction of a school for 100 seats in the village of Primorskoe of the Magaramkent District. He has noted that the school for 440 seats in the village of Bilbil is ready for 50%.

In those villages, according to Fridun Shakhpazov, the acting schools are in poor condition.

The businessman has noted that as soon as he began the construction of the schools, he was subjected to the increased pressure in the form of inspections from the supervising and law enforcement bodies.

On April 26, Shakhabas Shakhov, Dagestani Minister of Education and Science, reported that the authorities attracted investors to construction of schools. According to the Minister, out of 1489 Dagestani schools, half are located in rural areas.
