Experts predict new escalation of Karabakh conflict

The military exercises carried out by Azerbaijan with the use of modern Russian-made howitzers prove the possibility of new escalation of the Karabakh conflict. This opinion was expressed by Azerbaijani analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

On May 3, Azerbaijan launched the first military exercises after the escalation of the Karabakh conflict.

Although those military exercises are carried out in accordance to the earlier plans, they "can be treated as preparation for the next round of escalation of the Karabakh conflict." This was stated by military expert Uzeir Jafarov, the leader of the Azerbaijani NGO "Military Journalists".

According to Uzeir Jafarov, "new large-scale military actions" are inevitable in the Karabakh conflict zone.

The military expert has also noted that "combat actions demonstrated the military superiority of Azerbaijan."

Uzeir Jafarov believes that Armenia is also preparing to escalation of the situation. According to him, it is "active military actions of the Armenian side that encourage Azerbaijan to take measures of retaliation."

According to him, the Azerbaijani side "should be ready to both defensive and offensive operations."

Uzeir Jafarov has noted that during the military exercises, the Azerbaijani armed forces use Russian-made "MSTA-S" howitzers, which have "enormous destructive power."
