Police detain Kenkhi villager after visit of "Dozhd" journalist
The detention of Magomed Akhmedov was reported today by the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly. According to the paper, the reason was that he had driven Vasily Polonsky, a journalist of the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Company, to the village of Kenkhi for making a report about Ramazan Djalaldinov's appeal to Vladimir Putin.
On April 14, Djalaldinov's video was posted on the YouTube, in which he told about the situation in Kenkhi. According to his story, the village is in a dilapidated state after the war and floods, but the villagers receive no compensations. On April 16, Kenkhi villagers held a gathering, at which they publicly condemned Djalaldinov and treated his appeal as a slander.
Magomed Akhmedov was taken to the Sharoi ROVD (District Interior Division), where the police boss had a talk to him, explaining that Djalaldinov had spread false information, said human rights activist Kheda Saratova, adding: "I received a call from Magomed Akhmedov, who said that no unlawful methods were applied to him. Later, his brother came and took him from the ROVD. As to the journalist, they allegedly just asked him who he was, what he wanted, and what the aim of his visit was."
After arriving in Kenkhi, Vasily Polonsky talked with local residents, who later helped him to go through the mountains towards the border with Dagestan, the journalist himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
