Second casualty of Yerevan bus blast identified

The second person killed by the explosion in a Yerevan bus was the 55-year-old Ruden Balyan, said the Investigating Committee of Armenia. Investigators believe that Balyan was the culprit of the explosion. Six victims of the explosion are still treated at medical centres.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion in a bus occurred in the evening on April 25 in Alabyan Street of Yerevan. Two men were killed by the blast; and eight others were wounded. One of the casualties was identified at once; and with respect to the other, investigators said that the body was unfit for identification and appointed a DNA examination.

According to the police, an explosive device went off in the bus; but security services ruled out a terror act.

As a result of investigative activities, the second casualty was identified, said Sona Truzyan, an advisor to the Chairman of the Investigating Committee of Armenia.

"This was the 55-year-old Ruden Balyan; the SIM-card that belonged to him was found at the blast site: the corresponding examination was carried out to identify the suspect in the bombing, which gave positive results," said Truzyan as quoted by the "Interfax".

Ms Truzyan reported earlier that the suspect had intended to commit an attempted murder of his relatives. Investigators do not exclude that the explosion was triggered occasionally, the "Interfax" adds.
