For past year, Sochi failed to take measures to preserve "Olympic" village, activists assert

The process of looting of Vesyoloe-Psou cottage village and other empty villages and apartment buildings designed for Olympic settlers still continues. Applications sent by Sochi public activists to the authorities in April 2015 did not succeed. The activists of the anticorruption coalition have carried out an inspection, and following its results, they have stated that the situation with the Olympic heritage is only getting worse.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of the "Olympic" village in Sochi claimed its derelict condition and misuse since 2011. In the spring of 2015, the activists of the Sochi anticorruption coalition carried out a public inspection of the village of Vesyoloe-Psou, and following the results of the inspection, the activists have reported the destruction of the state property and the misuse of the houses built for Olympic settlers.

On April 13, the public activists again inspected the "Olympic" village, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"One year has passed. We did not get any answer to our appeal... The only thing that happened since that time was the fact that they began to auction houses at exorbitant prices. During seven months, only two cottages were sold. The rest, as we have seen, are still empty, and they continue collapsing while 30,000 people wait in line for the housing," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Yuri Marian, the leader of the Sochi anticorruption coalition.
