Dagestani fined for public demonstration of IS flag
The Khasavyurt City Court has fined a local resident for placing in a social network an image of the flag of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia.
That fact that the man posted an image of Arabic characters on a black background that is identical to the flag used by the IS militants on his personal page in the social network "VKontakte" was revealed by the prosecutor's office in the course of a check carried out jointly with operative agents of internal affairs bodies.
As pointed out by the agents, the image was placed in an open access; and a case on an administrative offense was initiated against the above resident of Khasavyurt under Part 1, Article 20.3 (propaganda or public display of attributes or symbols of extremist organizations) of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation.
On presentation of the prosecutor's office, the Khasavyurt City Court has ruled to impose a fine on the perpetrator in the amount of 1000 roubles, says the today's statement posted on the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.
