In Sochi, Mayoralty auctions "Olympic" cottages for seventh time

In Sochi, during the seven months passed since the announcement of the auction for the sale of "Olympic" cottages, two houses out of 51 put up for sale were sold. Residents of Sochi, who occupied the village for the "Olympic settlers", complain about too high prices and poor quality of cottages.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August 2015, the Mayoralty of Sochi put up for auctioned 51 houses built near the Olympic Park in the Imereti Lowland. According to the plans of preparation for the Olympic Games, those houses were designed to settle the people who had lost their houses because of the construction of the facilities for the 2014 Olympic Games.

The total cost of houses was about one billion roubles. The average cost of a cottage amounted to 21 million roubles, while the minimum price was 8.5 million roubles.

The last auction scheduled for March 1 was cancelled, since no bids for houses were submitted.

As of February 2, 140 houses in the area were transferred to the municipality balance, reports Tatiana Moskalenko, an official of the Department for Property Relations of the Sochi Mayoralty. Meanwhile, the official failed to clarify the fate of 89 houses that had not been put up for auction.

Let us remind you that in March 2015, activists of the Sochi anticorruption coalition held a public inspection of the village of Vesyoloe-Psou. Following the results of their inspection, the activists have reported on destruction of state property and inappropriate use of houses built for Olympic settlers.
