Nadezhda Savchenko refuses to appeal against her sentence

Nadezhda Savchenko, a Ukrainian aviator, sentenced for involvement in the killing of Russian journalists, has informed her defence of her final refusal to file a complaint against the verdict. This was reported by her advocate Mark Feigin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 22, Nadezhda Savchenko was found guilty of involvement in the killing of Russian journalists not far from Lugansk and illegal crossing of the border with Russia. She was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment in a penal colony. The defence of the Ukrainian aviator has reported that Nadezhda Savchenko does not want to challenge the verdict in order to speed up her extradition to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the advocate of Nadezhda Savchenko has appealed to the UN for help for the liberation of his client.

In the Facebook, advocate Mark Feigin has posted a statement made by Nadezhda Savchenko, in which she states that she has "made the final decision not to file an appeal," since she "sees no sense in it" and does not recognize the legality of the verdict pronounced.

It should be noted that on March 29, Mark Feigin reported that Nadezhda Savchenko intended to start a dry hunger strike on April 6 and to continue it until her extradition to Ukraine. Meanwhile, on March 25, Sergey Ivanov, Chief of the Presidential Administration of Russia, announced that Nadezhda Savchenko could be changed for another person, but the decision should be made by the President of Russia in person.
