Reznik decides to challenge decision of Chechen Prosecutor's Office on Kadyrov's statements

The Chechen Prosecutor's Office has found no attributes of public calls for extremist activities in the statements of Ramzan Kadyrov about the opposition. This was announced by Maxim Reznik, an MP of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg. He intends to appeal against the results of the prosecutor's check.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12 the head of Chechnya stated that the non-systemic opposition should be treated "as nation's enemies and traitors." Human rights activists treated Kadyrov's words as reckless and dangerous. On January 18, Maxim Reznik sent a request to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) asking to examine Kadyrov's statements for extremism. The request was re-forwarded to the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.

The response of the Chechen Public Prosecutor Sharpuddi Abdul-Kadyrov, received by Reznick, says that "according to experts' conclusions no attributes of public calls for extremist activities, inciting social, national, religious hatred or hatred against some political group" are present in Ramzan Kadyrov's statements.

In this context, the Prosecutor's Office saw no grounds for any prosecutor's reaction, said Mr Reznik's press service.

Maxim Reznik was dissatisfied with this reply.

"I'll certainly appeal against it," he said as quoted by the "ZakS.Ru".
