In Dagestan, police car blown up in chase

Today, a car of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has been blown up during a chase in the area of the village of Sirtich of the Tabasaran District. One policeman was killed, and another one was injured.

The police car was chasing a car from the Suleiman-Stalsky District. When the policemen caught up to the suspects, an explosion occurred.

"An improvised explosive device (IED) was activated, and an explosion occurred," the "Lifenews" quotes a source from the law enforcement bodies as reporting.

The chase began after the policemen tried to stop the car for inspection, but the driver did not stop and tried to escape, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

According to other reports, the explosion occurred in the car en route, the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports.

Till present, no official comments of the law enforcement authorities have been available. Nothing has been reported on the state of the victim and the people who were in the chased car.
