On March 21-27, two persons suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from March 21 to March 27, 2016, two persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus: one perished and one was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The casualty is an alleged member of the armed underground in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On March 23, around 10:30 p.m., unidentified persons shelled a police post in the village of Khebda, Shamil District of Dagestan. The attack was committed by two persons, who used automatic firearms. As a result of the attack, one policeman was wounded; and some cars parked near the scene were damaged.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On March 25, at 5:00 a.m. Moscow time, the village of Andi, Botlikh District of Dagestan, was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. Power agents launched a special operation and organized a search for militants. On March 27, at 12:00 a.m. Moscow time, by the decision of the operative headquarters, the CTO regime was cancelled in connection with the completion of all activities. There was no information about the results of the CTO.

Explosions and terror acts

On March 21, at about 10:00 p.m. Moscow time, an explosion occurred near the village of Mutsalaul, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan. A police unit that arrived at the venue found a blow up bunker sized 3×4 meters. When removing the rubble, they found a man's body. According to preliminary data, he was a militant who blew himself up by his self-made bomb.

Detentions

On March 21, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan reported that in a VAZ-21099 car, stopped for inspection at a checkpoint in Kaspiysk, policemen found several dozen rounds from a submachine gun, a grenade with a fuse and grenade-launcher shots. The car was driven by a 47-year-old resident of the Karabudakhkent District. A case has been opened against the driver for illegal transportation of ammunition. The MIA does not specify whether the man was detained, and does not disclose his name.

On March 25, parishioners of the Salafi mosque located in Hungarian Warriors Street in the capital of Dagestan reported about mass detentions. According to the official representative of the mosque, believers were detained both before the prayer, and at the exit from the mosque. Now, policemen say that they detained "suspicious" persons for checking their IDs and subsequent registration. One of the parishioners said that power agents surrounded the mosque before the Friday sermon; and when people began to slowly coming to the namaz (prayer), they began to detain people selectively, put them into vehicles and took away for registration.
