Russian SC upholds sentence to Said Amirov

The Supreme Court (SC) has reduced the sentence to Yusup Djaparov, convicted in the case against Said Amirov, the former Mayor of Makhachkala, down to 17 years and 10 months of imprisonment. The rest of the sentence was left unchanged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August 2015, Said Amirov was sentenced to life imprisonment in the criminal case of organization of assassinations. Yusup Djaparov, a nephew of Said Amirov, was sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment. Said Amirov and other defendants in the case pleaded not guilty.

The judicial panel of the Russian Supreme Court has made a decision to change the verdict to Yusup Djaparov, reclassified his actions, and pronounced the final sentence of imprisonment for the term of 17 years and 10 months.
