On March 14-20, there were no victims of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from March 14 to March 20, 2016, no casualties and victims were registered in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On March 19, 2016, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was cancelled in a number of dwelling settlements of Ingushetia, introduced back in 2014. On May 31, 2014, the CTO regime was introduced in two villages of the Nazran District and 12 dwelling settlement of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia. The CTO regime remains active only in some pre-border forested mountainous territories.

Detentions

On March 15, employees of the North-Ossetian Departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained a resident of the village of Chermen, Prigorodny District, after they found a large number of weapons and ammunition in his house, namely, explosive substances and devices, TNT (trotyl) blocks, mines, plenty of ammunition of various calibres, supposedly, shots to the RPG-7 grenade launcher, and F-1 grenades.

On March 17, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported that in the village of Mutsalaul, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, they detained three local residents, who were associated with the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) and were preparing to commit terror acts in Russia. The detainees gave confessions and told about a hideout with improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Power agents went there and found four bombs with a total power of up to 5 kilos of TNT (trotyl) equivalent, and about a ton of explosive substances. Explosive experts conducted demining of the IEDs; nobody suffered in the process.
