Settlers in Sochi boarding house have no electricity because of Mayoralty's debts

For a week already, the Adler-based boarding house "Neptune", inhabited by forced migrants, has no electricity supply, because the Sochi Mayoralty has failed to pay its debts to resource organizations. Residents reported about their situation to the prosecutor's office; and the Mayor promised to restore the electricity supply next week.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Sochi boarding house "Neptune" is inhabited by the so-called "Olympic settlers" (people who lost their housing because of the construction of Sochi Olympic facilities), those, who have suffered from natural disasters, and those on the waiting list for new homes. Earlier, they had already complained to the prosecutor's office about their hard living conditions.

Tenants have regular problems with utilities, Larisa Perekotij, a member of the initiative group of tenants of the boarding house, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The so-called 'manoeuvrable housing fund' has outages of power, water and heat supplies for weeks or even months. People don't live; they suffer torments. We were told that we were accommodated here temporarily. But this 'temporarily' drags on for years. Some people have lived here for ten years awaiting resettlement," she said.

"We managed to find out that the administration has multimillion debts to resource-supplying organizations; therefore we were cut off. But it's not our fault. It turns out that we were moved from one emergency situation into another emergency situation. What has changed in our lives? By the way, pretty lots of apartments in Sochi stay uninhabited," Ms Perekotij said.
