First Chumakov's sermon after attack attracts plenty of believers
Today, at the first sermon pronounced by Imam Khamzat Chumakov at the Nasyr-Kort mosque there were much more believers than usual, Musa Barkinkhoev, the chairman of the Union of Young Writers of Ingushetia, who visited the sermon, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his assessment, there were about seven thousand people at the mosque at the usual attendance of five thousand.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 11, a car was blown up at Nasyr-Kort, a municipal district of Nazran. According to eyewitnesses, the incident was an assassination attempt on Imam Chumakov.
According to Barkinkhoev, during his sermon, the Imam has commented on the attempt on him.
"The Imam said that the attack had been carefully prepared and committed by a group of people, who, apart from killing him, also aim to destabilize the situation in the republic," said Barkinkhoev.
The today's security measures at the mosque were unprecedented, Idris Abadiev, the chairman of the "Mekhk-Khel" movement, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"GIBDD (traffic police) agents haven't let a single car into the yard of the mosque. At the entrance to the mosque all believers were inspected to prevent entrance of people with explosives. Those, who listened to the sermon, while standing in the yard, were also careful inspected; they had to stay in the yard, because there were much more persons willing to listen to the sermon of Imam Khamzat Chemakov," he said.
