HRC asks Bastrykin and Chaika to take attacks on rights defenders under personal control (+video)
The Presidential Human Rights Council (HRC) has addressed Yuri Chaika and Alexander Bastrykin, the heads of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), accordingly, with a request to personally control the inquiry into the attacks on rights defenders and journalists in Ingushetia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 9, at the Ingush-Chechen border, the minivan of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG) was attacked by unidentified persons. The police have qualified the attack as hooliganism and destruction of other's property.
This morning, the head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov said that he had sent appeals asking them to control the progress of the investigation to Yuri Chaika, the General Public Prosecutor, and Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Let us remind you that on March 9 the JMG office in Ingushetia was also attacked. The Nazran ROVD (District Interior Division) has launched the inquiry into the incident.
