Court refuses Djaparov to make new translation of documents

Experts of the Dargin language have stated at the court that the differences in dialects cannot prevent Yusup Djaparov, a nephew of Said Amirov, from understanding the content of the case files. In this regard, the court has rejected the defence's request to make a new translation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since February 24, the Russian Supreme Court (SC) is considering the appeal complaint in the case of Said Amirov, the Mayor of Makhachkala. The interpreter of the convict Yusup Djaparov, Deputy Mayor of the city of Kaspiysk and Amirov's nephew, who wished to testify in his native Dargin language, complained that he could not carry out his functions, as he knows the Tsudakhar dialect, while Djaparov speaks the Akushin dialect.

An employee of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) was questioned as an expert of the Dargin language. He said that, despite the differences of the Akushin and Tsudakhar dialects, the content of the case files should be clear to Djaparov. In this regard, the court refused to satisfy the defence's request for making a new translation of the documents, the "Chernovik" reports.
