Refusal to grant CER to Khaiser Djemilev challenged
A complaint against the judgement of the Astrakhan District Court to deny the conditional early relieve (CER) to Khaiser Djemilev has been lodged to the Astrakhan Regional Court, said the advocate Nikolai Polozov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 25 the Sovietskiy District Court of Astrakhan rejected the CER for Khaiser Djemilev.
On June 10, 2015, the Krasnodar Territorial Court sentenced Khaiser Djemilev to five years in prison on charges of manslaughter of the family friend Fevzi Edemov, and theft and possession of firearm. After the appeal, the Djemilev's term was reduced to 3.5 years.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to the defence, the trial of Khaiser Djemilev was an attempt to exert pressure on his father, Mustafa Djemilev, a former head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars. Djemilev Senior lives in Kiev and is the authorized envoy of the President of Ukraine on Crimean Tatars' matters.
