Expert in court refutes suicide of trainee Barsegyan

Cadet Aikaz Barsegyan was strangled; he did not commit suicide, a forensic expert Vigen Adamyan has stated today at the court session in Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Aikaz Barsegyan was found hanged on January 29, 2015, in Yerevan. His fellow-trainees Gnel Tevosyan, Norik Sahakyan, Vache Sahakyan, Movses Azaryan and Karen Bagramyan, and an officer Artyom Avetisyan are accused of killing him. At the session on December 24, 2015, Ara Zakaryan, the advocate of Gnel Tevosyan, said that "all the facts of the case prove that Aikaz Barsegyan had committed suicide."

Today, at the session of the court of general jurisdiction of the administrative districts of Avan-Nor-Nork, an expert Vigen Adamyan spoke about the murder of trainee Barsegyan. The expert said that Aikaz Barsegyan had not committed suicide, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to Adamyan, the traces from the rope "appeared on Barsegyan's neck already after his death." "Aikaz Barsegyan died of compression of his neck with a blunt object, possibly, with a hand. He died from mechanical asphyxia," said the expert.
