Power agents report detention of "Hizb ut-Tahrir" members in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, nine persons were taken to the police on suspicion of involvement in the "Hizb ut-Tahrir", recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization, law enforcement sources have reported today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the activities of the "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami" (Islamic Liberation Party) was banned in Russia back on February 4, 2003, by the decision of the Russian Supreme Court. This organization proclaims its goal as the establishment of the Islamic rule in the world through the creation of the "World Islamic Caliphate". According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the members of the organization try to radicalize the Russian Islamic community.

Nine alleged members of the "Hizb ut-Tahrir" were taken to the police today, but four of them were soon released, the "LifeNews" reports, citing its law enforcement source.
