POC members complain about non-admission to Mukhammad Magomedov

Members of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) have filed a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office that they were not allowed twice into the SIZO (pre-trial prison) to visit Mukhammad Magomedov, an activist of the public organization "Union of the Just". A Magomedov's friend also said that the advocate was also not allowed to visit the activist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomedov was detained on May 23, 2015. He is charged with illegal manufacture and possession of weapons. Initially, Magomedov was taken into custody, but in June 2015 his defence managed to achieve his release under house arrest. On February 25, at the request of the Federal Security Bureau (FSB), Magomedov was returned into custody.

Since February 26, POC members have been trying to get to Mukhammad Magomedov, said his friend, a blogger Gasan Gadjiev.

According to his story, Magomedov's advocate intends to appeal against the actions of the SIZO staff by submitting applications to the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The POC has already filed an application to the Prosecutor's Office on non-admission to Magomedov, said Ruslan Rasulov, a POC member.

According to his version, the POC members were told at the SIZO that Magomedov could not be visited because of the conducted operative actions.

Svetlana Isaeva, a member of the Dagestani POC, has added that on February 29, POC members are again trying to visit Magomedov at the SIZO.
