Rights defenders are concerned about expulsion of Syrian refugees from Russia

The deportation of three Syrian refugees from Russia, scheduled for today, will be a violation of the international law, said representatives of the "Civil Assistance" Committee.

According to rights defenders, citizens of Syria Sadakh Eddin, Zakaria Barry and Khaisam Drubi are asylum seekers in Russia. On February 24, they were brought from Dagestan to Moscow for further deportation to Damascus.

"Following a complaint of one of them, Zakaria Barry Abdalmuema, on February 24, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) applied Rule 39 of the Regulations of the Court, which prohibits the expulsion as a preventive measure. The other two, Khaisam Drubi and Uafan Sadakh Eddin, on the same day received an official refusal of a temporary shelter," the "Kommersant" quotes Elena Srapyan, the press-secretary of the "Civil Assistance" Committee.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had repeatedly appealed to the Federal Migration Service (FMS) of Russia asking not to expel Syrians, because "it is unacceptable".

"According to international norms, people cannot be expelled to the countries, which are at war," the "Meduza" quotes Shamil Magomedov, a lawyer of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
