Court rejects CER for Djemilev
Today, the Sovietsky District Court of Astrakhan has dismissed the petition to grant the conditional early relief (CER) to Khaiser Djemilev. The petition was lodged by his advocate Nikolai Polozov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 10, 2015, the Krasnodar Territorial Court sentenced Khaiser Djemilev to five years in colony on charges of manslaughter the family friend Fevzi Edemov, and of theft and possession of firearms. After the appeal of the verdict, Djemilev's term was reduced to 3.5 years. He was convoyed to Astrakhan.
The rejection of the CER was motivated by the fact that by the time of the court session the convict had been brought for 7 times to administrative punishment for violation of the daily routine. It was also found out at the court session that from February 20 Djemilev was again in the dungeon.
According to the defence, the trial of Khaiser Djemilev was an attempt to put pressure on his father Mustafa Djemilev, the former head of the Crimean Tatar Majlis. The father lives in Kiev and is the authorized representative of the President of Ukraine for Crimean Tatars' matters.
