Ilya Yashin: Ramzan Kadyrov's power in Chechnya threatens national security of Russia

Ramzan Kadyrov governs Chechnya in the Putin-style power flavoured with demonstrative Islamization. He increases military power in the republic, uses law enforcers loyal to him personally, and thus threatens the national security of Russia. This was stated by Ilya Yashin in his report on the situation in the Chechen Republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, Ilya Yashin, co-Chairman of the PARNAS Party, has held the presentation of his report entitled "A Threat to National Security" at the Moscow office of the PARNAS Party. Meanwhile, journalists were evacuated; and the presentation was finished without media representatives.

In his report, the author mentions friends and enemies of Ramzan Kadyrov and money incoming to the republic. Ilya Yashin believes that Chechnya faces the personality cult of Ramzan Kadyrov. Furthermore, according to the author of the report, there is a "system of collection of tribute" in Chechnya, and there are armed groups loyal to Ramzan Kadyrov personally.

Ilya Yashin states that "Chechen Caliphate" has been formed inside Russia, and it lives by its own laws, while receiving billions of roubles in subsidies from the Russian federal budget.

While transmitting all power in Chechnya to Ramzan Kadyrov, Vladimir Putin pursued the primary goal "to defeat the separatist underground", which used terrorist methods in the struggle for the independence of the republic. In exchange, Ramzan Kadyrov "was required to solve this problem first and foremost."

Ilya Yashin believes that the Foundation named after Kadyrov is completely non-transparent. According to Ilya Yashin, the Foundation gives the Chechen leader to organize collection of large-scale cash contributions from the population, but in fact, it is a legalized system of collecting tribute.

The Chechen leader has stated that the report "does not contain anything but the idle talk." Ramzan Kadyrov called Ilya Yashin a "one-man theatre" producing no sensation.
