People affected by terror act at Domodedovo Airport to file lawsuits against airport's owners

People affected by the terror act committed at the "Domodedovo" Airport intend to file multi-million-US-dollar lawsuits against former top-managers of the Airport, who are charged with providing services failing to meet safety requirements. This was reported by advocate Igor Trunov.

On January 24, 2011, a terror act was committed at the "Domodedovo" Airport. As a result of the explosion, 37 persons were killed and other 172 were injured. According to investigators, the explosive device was activated by Magomed Evloev, a suicide bomber lost in a welcoming crowd.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that eight employees of the "Domodedovo" Airport and law enforcers were involved as suspects in the case of failure to meet safety requirements at the "Domodedovo" Airport. In September 2011, a number of defendants were exempted from suspicions in the case, while the investigation against top managers of the "Domodedovo" Airport was underway. In June 2015, it was reported that the investigators opened a criminal case against the owners of the "Domodedovo" Airport and accused them of failure to meet security measures in connection with the explosion committed in 2011.

On February 18, Igor Trunov, an advocate of the victims, said that now "the victims were preparing documents to file lawsuits against the defendants, and they will be filed within the criminal case of violations at the 'Domodedovo' Airport," the "TASS" reports.

Meanwhile, the advocate found that difficult to clarify the estimated amount of the claims. He has noted that there "will be multi-million-US-dollar lawsuits."
