Chechnya enhances security measures

In Chechnya, law enforcers have enhanced security measures after the terror act, committed in the Derbent District of Dagestan in the morning of February 15. Residents of Chechnya report on numerous mobile police checkpoints, arranged on the main roads.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning of February 15, the explosion occurred at the checkpoint near the village of Djemikent. The Dagestani authorities have confirmed that as a result of the explosion, two persons were killed and other 18 persons were wounded. Sources reported on four killed persons, including a suicide bomber. Islamic State claimed responsibily for the bombing.

Residents of Grozny note that on February 15, reinforced police squads were on duty on the main roads. According to local residents, policemen repeatedly stop cars for verification.

"I have not seen so many police checkpoints for a long time. They were arranged in the city centre and at the entrances and exits of Grozny. GIBDD (road police) often organize raids in our city. However, this time, we face the new situation. Yesterday, my car was stopped three times," says local resident Ibragim.

In his blog on Instagram, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has written that recently, in different regions, pseudo-preachers raise their heads, who not dare to openly call themselves Wahhabis and use other religious terms as disguise.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, the local authorities, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies and religious figures need to coordinate their efforts to counter radical ideology.
