Astrakhan Court announces Stenin's trial closed
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office, the Sovietskiy District Court of Astrakhan, which is considering the case of Igor Stenin, the leader of the movement "Russians of Astrakhan", has announced the trial closed and removed the audience and the media from the courtroom.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 21, 2015, FSB agents detained Igor Stenin (addition of the "Caucasian Knot" of February 8, 2016, at 7:03 p.m. Moscow time: Stenin was also arrested on January 20, 2014, for organizing a nationalists' action). He is suspected of public calls for extremist activity.
Stenin was detained during a rally in memory of a local resident Galiya Borisenko, in whose death natives of Northern Caucasus were accused.
Today, Olga Usachova, Senior Assistant to Prosecutor of the Sovietskiy District of Astrakhan, has requested, at the court session, to hold Stenin's trial behind closed doors on the basis of Points 1 and 4, Part 2, Article 241 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Stenin stated that investigators have no proofs of his guilt. However, he did not rule out a guilty verdict against him.
