Ramzan Kadyrov opposes merger of Chechnya and Ingushetia
Today, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has stated that he opposes the merger of Chechnya and Ingushetia. He has also reported that he had agreed with Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov to combat extremism together.
"We have a conversation with Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov. And we agreed to use joint efforts to oppose any extremist phenomena," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on his page on Instagram.
"As far as provocative conversations about my desire to merge Chechnya and Ingushetia are concerned, then I will never agree with that. And I can swear that no one opposes the merger stronger than me! Chechen and Ingush peoples are brotherly nations. However, every republic has its problems and challenges. And we should not put them together," wrote the Chechen leader. Ramzan Kadyrov did not specify what "provocative conversations" he had mentioned.
Yunus-Bek Evkurov has supported the position of Ramzan Kadyrov concerning the joint efforts to combat extremism. According to the Ingush leader, "any evil should be fought together," and "no force will be able to sow discord between the Ingush and Chechen peoples", reports the "Russian News Service".
