Defence of Amur Khakulov, sentenced in case of attack on Nalchik, reports on his critical condition

Amur Khakulov, sentenced in the case of the attack on Nalchik, is seriously ill and he will hardly survive the transfer to a penal colony. This was stated by his advocates and his wife. According to doctors, Amur Khakulov urgently needs haemodialysis. However, the court refused to release him for medical treatment.

On October 13, 2005, during the attack on Nalchik, in total 35 law enforcers and servicemen, 14 civilians and 92 attackers were killed. The trial was running since 2008.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Amur Khakulov was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in the case of the attack on Nalchik. He was charged with the murder of a worker who was in a tower crane at the time of the attack. During the trial, according to the defence, it was found out that the man was out of sight of the attackers and was killed by a sniper.

On February 1, Amur Khakulov underwent an ultrasound examination, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Lyusia Shorova, an advocate of Amur Khakulov.

"According to the doctors' opinion, in case of failure of a procedure of haemodialysis, the life of Amur Khakulov is exposed to fatal danger. However, the Russian Supreme Court has refused to release Amur Khakulov and sent a letter to the hospital, which stated that the doctors' opinion contained ambiguities and conflicting conclusions," said Lyusia Shorova.

"My client will have to undergo a new commission in a penal colony, where he will be sent to serve his sentence. However, taking into account the conditions of transferring to penal colony in Russia, he can hardly reach the place," the advocate has explained.
